Congratulations to Marilyn and Lyn!

We are thrilled to announce that our Treasurer, Marilyn, and Events Coordinator, Lyn, have successfully secured a highly competitive COTA Grant for Seniors Month. This grant will fund a free and inclusive Seniors Information Day, open to the public.

On this day, knowledgeable representatives from local non-profit organizations and government agencies will provide valuable information on the following topics:
– Transport issues for seniors in the region
– Home security
– Avoiding online scams
– Power of Attorney
– Navigating aged care
– Local support for vulnerable community members

This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to:
– Connect with support services
– Engage with local experts
– Gain valuable information that will benefit both now and in the future
– Show our valued seniors that we care

I am writing to congratulate you on being selected as one of 115 organisations which will receive a grant to assist with the cost of delivering your Queensland Seniors Month 2024 event.
The Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services received an incredible range of applications and yours will be a great addition to the 2024 calendar of events.
Seniors Month 2024’s theme “Love Getting Older in Queensland” celebrates older Queenslanders as the heart and soul of our communities and encourages people of all ages, cultures and abilities to connect and celebrate. Seniors Month 2024 will start on the United Nations International Day of Older Persons on 1 October 2024 and will include the celebration of Grandparents Day on Sunday 27 October 2024.
The Queensland Government is partnering with the Council on the Ageing Queensland (COTA Qld) to deliver Seniors Month.
