Stripe
Gympie U3A use Stripe to handle card payments.
What is Stripe?
Stripe is a company that allows businesses of any size to accept payments and manage their business online. It is used by companies such as:
Airtasker; Uber; Booking.com; Shopify; Google; Amazon; Zoom
They have two head offices – one in San Francisco and one in Dublin but they also have offices in London, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo and a dozen others.
They were launched in 2011, have 4000 plus employees and millions of users all over the world.
What does Stripe do?
Stripe allows any business with a bank account to be able to accept online credit card payments over the internet. Stripe accepts all major debit and credit cards.
For U3A Gympie this means that members with a credit card or debit card can safely and securely pay for their membership or for ticketed events online. The money is transferred usually within 24 hours into the U3A bank account.
Is Stripe safe?
According to a variety of websites – Yes. Stripe exceeds the most stringent security standards.

Does Stripe store my card details?
No! And neither does U3A Gympie.
Why does paying by card cost more?
Companies that process card payments charge a fee for this service. It is the price for the convenience of paying by card. To avoid this small surcharge you can pay by Direct Deposit into our bank account. Your enrollment will be finalised once the payment is received into our bank account and processed by one of our volunteers.
