Tutor, Maree Robinson is leaving Gympie soon. The Art group had a surprise morning tea to thank Maree and wish her well. Members enjoyed cake and coffee and presented Maree with flowers.
After Maree moved to Gympie she volunteered to take a painting class for U3A in 2020. The painting class met at the Nashville Scouts Hall for 2 years until issues with Maree’s eyes forced her to take a break from tutoring.
The painting class merged with the drawing class in 2022 under the tutelage of Noo Dye to become the Arts group. Other commitments meant Noo was unable to continue tutoring in 2023. Maree agreed to mentor the Arts group members as needed .
Maree has been an artist for over 40 years and has generously shared her knowledge with members of the Painting class and the Arts group. We will miss Maree.
The Arts group would appreciate an artist to volunteer as our mentor for when we need some assistance. We are not looking for someone to take lessons – just be there so we can ‘draw’ on your experience. [Pun intended]
If you want to explore drawing or painting in a friendly environment please join us – new members are welcome to come and try. We meet on Tuesdays during the term at Avenues Hall from 10:30 to 12:30.
